LIFE Groups at Westside Christian Church

A LIFE Group is a small gathering of people who meet regularly to encourage and support each other other in their Spiritual Journey.

What happens during a typical LIFE Group Meeting?

A typical LIFE Group meets at someone’s home and begins with a time of socializing and eating good food. Then, the group comes together to share what’s going on in their lives - like personal victories and prayer needs. Finally the facilitator leads a practical and relevant, discussion-based Bible study. LIFE Groups meetings should not last no longer than an hour and a half.

When and where will these groups meet?

Most groups will meet at various homes on Sunday nights at 6:00 PM. However, there may be some LIFE Groups that choose to meet on another night. LIFE Groups run from mid September through May. We take a break during the summer months.

What kind of LIFE Groups does WCC Offer?

This year, we will divide the LIFE Groups by age range and/or stage of life. For example, there will be a college-age/young adult, a mini-van group for young families, and a LIFE Group for the empty-nesters.

Why should I join a LIFE Group?

We were not created to live in isolation. We need each other! Being part of a LIFE Group is a great way to connect with other believers and in doing so, connect more closely with God. To sum it up, a LIFE Group is how we at Westside Christian Church do life together!

How long does a LIFE Group last?

For the most part, our LIFE Groups will meet from mid September to May. We take a break during the summer months. Our goal is for each LIFE Group to continue year after year; however, one a LIFE Group reaches a certain size, it will birth into two LIFE Groups. As you will see, that is the key to true growth at Westside Christian Church.

What if the LIFE Group I join does not fit who I am?

Obviously, there is no obligation to stay in a group; however we suggest giving a group two to three weeks before making a decision to leave the group. That will allow you a good amount of time to really get to know the people in the group. After that, feel free try another group to see if you like it.

What about Childcare?

Childcare will be provided at the church for LIFE Groups that meet on Sunday nights.

What is the “Empty Chair”?

This is the empty chair that group prays over at every meeting signifying that a new person is always welcomed to the group. By faithfully praying over the “Empty Chair”, everyone is reminded to invite others to attend a LIFE Group Meeting.

Host Homes will NOT be responsible for providing food for all meetings.

Hospitality Leaders will organize who will bring food for each meeting: they will not necessarily provide all food.
